Take Care of Your Mind, Body & Soul in Breckenridge this Year
New Year, New You. That’s how it goes, right? For millions of Americans across the United States, the magical switch gets flipped when the calendar changes from December 31st to January 1st, initiating a wave of resolutions to be healthy, kind, productive, adventurous – you name it.
Perhaps this sounds familiar? How often have you made a resolution to eat your greens and drink more water? Or maybe you’ve promised to take a family vacation, only to find yourself, months later, unable to find time to wiggle that getaway in.
It’s also quite possible that you’re the type of person that doesn’t bother to even make a resolution in the first place, because they never last anyways. Did we hit that one on the nail? No matter what category you might fall into, we have a suggestion for you.
Make a resolution to take care of your mind, your body, and your soul. You’re thinking, “How can I do that?” Well, we’re so glad you asked! The first step is to get yourself to Breckenridge. Second, get your pen and paper ready to scribble some notes on how to take care of your mind, body and soul in 2019.
GO SNOWSHOEING
Don’t ski? Don’t fear! Breckenridge is a town with activities for the intensely active, those that want to lay horizontal all day, and everyone in-between. Miles of trails that wind through and around Breckenridge turn into snow-covered adventure tracks in the winter, beckoning snowshoers of all levels to strap on those funny looking things and trek through a winter wonderland.
Elevate your senses and your spirit at 10,000 feet on Bald Mountain (“Baldy”) or head to French Gulch and Sallie Barber Mine Trail for something a little lower. Relax your mind, challenge your body, and rejuvenate your soul with a snowshoe amongst the pines. Breathe deep, take in the moment and take a photo (literal or mental).
Snowshoeing is the perfect activity to crush a New Year’s resolution of simply just taking better care of you. Elevate yourself and your senses on an experience in Breckenridge you won’t soon forget!
GET A MASSAGE
When it comes to the ultimate sensory and relaxation experience, we’re going to make the call that massages are hard to beat. And a massage while on vacation? Well, what could get better than that? After a long day of traveling, you might find yourself tense and sore from hauling ALL that luggage through the airport or out of the car to your hotel room!
Life is too short to not treat yourself every once in a while. If you took our advice to snowshoe as well, there might be a sore muscle or two you didn’t realize existed that needs some attention!
Bask in ultimate luxury at one of our favorite massage spots: Soothe Spa at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 or Infinity Spa at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8.
GO SKIING
It might go without saying that hitting the slopes is incredible for your mind, body and soul. But, sometimes it’s worth it to state the obvious. Have you ever experienced a morning of fresh powder, your skis or board effortlessly gliding atop the snow? If it’s been a while since you hit the slopes, at first you might be tense; but as your muscle memory kicks in, your mind and body relax, allowing you to bask in this moment and count the blessings that Breckenridge provides.
Or, could it be a chairlift ride with your closest friends or dearly loved ones filling your soul to the brim with joy? Studies show that vacationing friends and family improves quality of life and overall productivity once you return to “real life.”
So, will you hit the slopes this year? We hope so!
GO EAT (AT ONE OF 80+ RESTAURANTS AND BARS)
Okay, so if your New Year’s Resolution is to eat healthier, you might think this suggestion is counterintuitive. We’re here to assure you that it is possible to go out to eat and enjoy yourself, all while taking care of your mind, body, and soul.
How so? For starters, the dining options are abundant throughout Breckenridge. Over eighty, to be exact! Worried about only bar and grille food? Don’t fret – kale salads and vegan pizzas are just a few waist-friendly options to choose from. (I’d suggest throwing in a few options for people, like Blue River or Piante.)
Now that we’ve covered how eating out can actually be good for your body, what about your mind and your soul? Trying new restaurants expands your horizons and broadens your palate – just think about the sensory overload in your mind when you try a new dish for the first time. Or the belly laughs that will inevitably ensue as you crack jokes with your best pals. This is truly the best medicine for your soul.
So what will it be? All of the above? Regardless of how you decide to take care of your mind, body, and soul in 2019, we hope it will be with us in Breckenridge! Need a place to stay? We’ve got you covered.
